All at sea

Noting that we’re sardined, mat edge to mat edge, in the studio, our yoga teacher asks why we’ve come.  It’s an extra strong bank holiday special.  Aren’t we tired enough after a usual class he asks?

Because of her shoulder injury my yogini’s been avoiding stronger classes for a while.  This morning it’s like trying to hold her footing on a ship tossed on the waves.  One minute delight –  ‘I can get my foot by my ear like a telephone – who knew?!’ the next almost woman overboard envy of other people’s strength and flexibility. And trying to hang on to the focus on the breath for some stability.

Are we shipwrecked at the end?  We’re definitely all wet and salty … and why?  Maybe precisely to venture out of our comfort zone and learn how to maintain equilibrium in stormy seas.
